Australia Day is coming up and that means a couple of restrictions regarding the river access this day. We found following information on http://www.cityofperth.wa.gov.au/skyworks/river_access.html
- The Narrows Personal Watercraft Freestyle area will be closed from 3pm to sunset. An 8-knot speed limit will be in place from Quarry Point to the Narrows Bridge and all of Perth waters from the Narrows Bridge to the Causeway Bridges from 3pm to 11pm.
- Perth Water will be closed to all vessels from 5pm to 9.45pm. No vessel is to anchor or moor in the areas indicated on the map. The Narrows Bridge main navigation channel (centre arch only) is to be used by all vessels.
- No vessel is to move from the vessel holding areas until Department of Transport, Marine Safety announces the waters to be open. An announcement will be broadcast on marine band radios 27Mhz and VHF.
- The Belmont ski area will be closed to water skiing from 3pm until sunset on Australia Day to facilitate safer boating from the Maylands and Goodwood Parade boat ramps.
- Remember, if you are on a boat on Australia Day, be careful on the banks of the Swan River when launching your boat, we need to help prevent erosion and protect the wildlife.
- Bathing and swimming will be prohibited in Perth Water between the Narrows Bridge and Heirisson Island from 3pm to 11pm.
Please also have a look on www.transport.wa.gov.au/imarine for more information.
